FLO Home X6 FAQs
FLO Home chargers are compatible with all EVs. We offer both J1772 and NACS connectors, as well as work with EV manufacturer-provided adapters.
This depends on many factors, including the maximum acceptance rate of the EV’s onboard charger and the output power of the EVSE. A complete charge using the X6 will take about 6-8 hours for most vehicles depending on the vehicle battery size and charger outputs that you have setup.
- For hardwired installations: FLO Home X3 has a maximum output of 12 kW, using 240 V and the full 50 amps available. All can be configured to be installed on smaller circuit breakers through a physical rotary switch located in the unit. All models can also be used with a 3-phase 120/208 VAC supply.
- For NEMA 14-50 plug-in installations: FLO Home X3 has a maximum output of 9.6 kW, using 240 V and the max 40 amps due to code rules around NEMA 14-50 plugs. To take advantage of the full 50 amps with a plug-in unit, an electrician can hardwire it and manually set the rotary switch to 50 amps if appropriate for the installation.
A qualified electrician is required to install hardwired versions to ensure that the home’s electrical panel is properly set up for EV charging. It is wise to also involve a qualified electrician in the installation of a NEMA 14-50 plug-in unit not only to ensure that the home’s electrical panel is properly set up for EV charging but also to make sure the electrical setup can safely be used, starting with a quality 240V outlet and the use of adequate wiring for EV charging application. We partner with local networks of qualified installers and you can get an instant quote here.
Yes, FLO Home X6 is built for the outdoors with a robust, type 4X enclosures made from recyclable aluminum. This provides a high level of protection against corrosion, windblown dust, rain, splashing or hose-directed water, ice, and other weather. Aluminum stands up better against the test of time in outdoor locations.
For hardwired versions: FLO Home X6 hardwired versions are factory set to 48 amps as it accommodates most installations more easily. A 60 amp circuit breaker is required for this installation. However, to take advantage of the full 50 amps, an electrician can adjust the amperage up and will need to use a circuit rated for 70 amps.
For NEMA 14-50 plug-in versions: You will need a circuit rated for 50 amps, which will give you the output of 40 amps.
Our hardwired versions are compatible with both copper and aluminum hardwiring. Aluminum wiring is now being used in many new housing developments and with the new types of aluminum wiring, it is considered safe. This can help you save on installation costs!
A "smart" EV charger is one that connects to the internet and is equipped with advanced features including future updates that can be applied through the internet connection. A FLO Home X6 charger lets you create schedules to take advantage of lower utility rates, restrict access, see your usage history, and get real-time charging notifications.
All FLO Home chargers can be connected via wi-fi. Please see this page to help with connecting your station.
Yes, FLO Home chargers will still work without an internet connection; however, you will be unable to set up schedules or restrict access to your charger. FLO recommends connecting the charging station whenever possible. Beyond extra features, it also allows FLO to push firmware updates that ensure the unit functions optimally or help with any troubleshooting should you need to contact customer support.
